Title IX and Sex Discrimination
Notice of Nondiscrimination: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts (TAPA) does not discriminate on the basis of sex in the education programs or activities that it operates, including admissions and employment. TAPA is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and its implementing regulations, 34 C.F.R. Part 106, not to discriminate in this manner. Questions about the application of Title IX to TAPA may be referred to TAPA’s Title IX Coordinator, to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or to both.
TAPA also prohibits discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. In accordance with Rhode Island law and TAPA policy, TAPA is committed to providing LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming students with a safe, supportive, and nondiscriminatory school environment.

Reporting Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, or Retaliation
Any person may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment or retaliation, to TAPA’s Title IX Coordinator. A report may be made at any time, including outside of regular school hours, in person, by telephone, by email, or by mail using the Title IX Coordinator’s contact information above. You do not need to use a particular form to make a report.
TAPA will respond to reports in accordance with its Title IX Policy. Supportive measures may be available whether or not a Formal Complaint is filed.
TAPA Title IX Policy and Grievance Procedures
TAPA’s Title IX Policy describes TAPA’s procedures for responding to reports and Formal Complaints of sexual harassment and retaliation, including supportive measures, investigation, informal resolution when available, determinations of responsibility, and appeals.
Filing a Formal Complaint
A Formal Complaint is a written or electronic submission requesting that TAPA investigate allegations under its Title IX grievance process.A Formal Complaint may be submitted directly to the Title IX Coordinator in person, by mail, or by email. TAPA also provides the form linked above for convenience.
